As requested, my personal philosophy towards learning is as follows:
I feel that my most productive and inspiring learning environments are those in which I truly feel comfortable, one in which discussion is intimate and open. Whether it be hanging out with friends, spending time with a book, a class in which I can really open up in, or complaining to my boyfriend; wherever there is a strong duologue I am learning.
In this sense, I feel that it is important to take in as much as possible, and to do the most listening. I have learned a great deal in the areas of studies that my friends have pursued just by listening to their general conversation, from architecture, to anthropology and construction, to literature and professional couch-potato-ing(?), to geology and medicine, from etc. to etc. While I am no expert on any of these things, I feel that my little insights into their studies have changed the ways in which I think about my own educational pursuit.
Likewise, I feel that it is also important to constantly be taking in information from all sources possible. I try to keep up with all things that interest me, from current events, to space news, to whatever is on NOVA, to the movies that won at the Sundance Festival, to the stories in the New York Times, to the books being put out by Microcosm Publishing and AK press, to etc. etc.
Long story short, I want to know everything.
